Abstract
The effects of SolcoTrichovac¢ç vaccine were studied in 10 patients with trichomoniasis and another group of 20 patients with non-specific vaginitis. The treatment consisted of 3 intramuscular injections of 0.5 mL each at intervals of 2 weeks. Immunological and bacteriological evaluations were made before vaccination and 1, 2 and 3 months after. The specific serum agglutination titers increased from a basal mean level of 1:62 to 1.87 after 1 month, 1:125 after 2 months and 1:109 after 3 months. The prevalence of demonstrated clue cells fell gradually from 43.3 % before the vaccination to 16.7 % after 1 month, 17.9 % after 2 months and 8.0 % after 3 months. The initial mean pH value of 5.4 before the vaccination also dropped to 5.2 after 1 month, 4.8 after 2 months and 4.6 after 3 months. The percentage of patients with positive amine test results was 16.7 % before vaccination and 23.3 %, 32.1 % and 8.0 % at 1 , 2 and 3 months respectively after initial vaccinations. No significant side effects were observed during the study period. Based on our study, it can, be concluded that SolcoTrichovac¢ç vaccination is of definite value in the treatment of trichomoniasis and non-specific vaginitis. It could be particularly recommended for the treatment of chronic refractory vaginitis.
